Tommy Lee Jones said these words in the 1997 film, Men In Black. I can’t help but think that the comfort I find in anonymity is couched in my introversion. But anonymity is different these days in our tracked digital world. It’s no longer a matter of hiding information but also matters of subterfuge and disinformation. Every layer placed is one layer removed from identity. One layer away from people.
Imagine anonymity as a fun-house room of mirrors where every reflected image is a slightly distorted image of the person. Which one is the real you?
